1915, in the town of Accrington, North England, all the towns young men have gone to fight the war. They were all killed.

Parade of the Dead - A young woman, May, walks through the town and suddenly finds herself within some strange vision from France. Her lovers Company Officer appears and describes to her the death of her friends and finally her lover (0'33 - 0'41). A Parade of the Dead is called - all the towns young men killed in battle - and they march past her. She is drawn back into reality by the lonely call of a factory steam whistle.
